The General Practice Clinic has a comprehensive range of services and is adjacent to the hospital.
The hospital is a country general hospital with 36 beds for patients with an acute illness. It provides 24 hour accident and emergency, medical, day and inpatient surgical, obstetrics and high dependency care.
In 2008, the State Government allocated $41 million to redevelop the Riverland Country General Hospital in Berri.
The redeveloped hospital will be equipped to provide a range of new and expanded services.
With the planned increase in specialist services and two new full-size theatres, it is estimated that an additional 300 people will be treated at Berri every year rather than going to a public hospital in the city.
Chemotherapy will be available within the hospital through four oncology chairs, which should result in improved access and an increase in the level of chemotherapy available in the Riverland.
A recovery focused rehabilitation program at Berri will help approximately 40 people avoid having to travel to Adelaide for rehabilitation each year. Berri will also be able to offer day therapy for people able to stay at home.
The redevelopment will include six new mental health beds, incorporating four intermediate care and two limited treatment centre beds
Situated approximately 3 hours from Adelaide, the Riverland offers a truly rewarding lifestyle. Excellent schools, delightful climate, one of Australia’s best food and wine districts, shopping and sporting facilities.
